The first round of the IHSA football playoffs had few surprises and a couple upsets but overall things pretty much shook out as expected. There was one record-breaking performance.
In Class 2A, Wilmington walloped Chicago (Julian ) 55-0 in a game that looked like it was decided at the end of the first quarter. They will have a playoff rematch with Sterling (Newman Central Catholic), who is coming off of a 33-24 upset over Aledo (Mercer County). The other one-seed, Decatur St. Teresa, dominated 7th seed Flora, 62-7.
