The Wilmington matmen did did four times better than they did a year ago in the sectionals as they advanced five Wildcats to the state tournament which starts Thursday.
Last year, they advanced just one to state and in 2017, they had eight go, with two medalists.
During Saturday’s Sectional at Pontiac, the ‘Cats had three runners-up in Julian Decker (106), Landon Flynn (132) and Jake Rodawold (170).
Finishing third and also advancing will be Ryan Shields (120) and Jack Narine (126).
