A stroll down the rum aisle in 2023 is a much different experience than walking the same aisle as recently as five years ago. We used to have limited options in a rum aisle that looked something like this: Bacardi Light Rum, Myer's Dark, and maybe a discount off brand rum or two.
Despite the influx of new rums (many of which are of a very high quality) Bacardi remains the bestselling rum on the planet. Bacardi's contribution to rum production over the last century and a half cannot be ignored, the brand even has a namesake cocktail.

Cocktail trends will come and go, but there always seems to be a few drinks that are “in” no matter what the flavor of the month may be. One of those drinks is the iconic Whiskey Sour.
It may be your favorite cocktail, your father's favorite, or perhaps your grandfather's favorite. Springtime will arrive (finally) this month, keep that bottle of winter bourbon handy and get ready for Whiskey Sour season!

The 2023 installment of Mardi Gras is upon us! There are any number of New Orleans cocktails that are appropriate for the occasion, I'm sure that the Hurricane will win the popularity contest with Bourbon Street revelers.
The Sazerac will also be well represented, but like the Hurricane the Sazerac is a hefty pour of 2 to 4 oz. 80 proof spirit in a single cocktail. How about something on the lighter side for those of us that celebrate during the day, and call it a night a bit early?

In recent years both the whiskey and the rum world have been blessed with “cask strength” or “barrel proof” expressions from distillers, meaning that the spirits are bottled higher than the standard 80 proof. In some cases, much higher.
One of the highest-octane expressions in the rum world comes from Jamaican distillers Wray & Nephew. Despite the “overproof” bottling, Wray & Nephew has solidified its place in Jamaican culture as part of one of the most popular Caribbean cocktails, the iconic Wray and Ting.
