Alice Kukla

WILMINGTON—Alice Fay (Davis) Kukla, 78, of Wilmington, and formerly of South Holland, IL, passed away peacefully Monday, Dec. 18, 2017 at Aperion Care Center in Wilmington.
Born Sept. 26, 1939 in Wilmington, IL, Alice Fay was a daughter of E.J. and Alice (Butcher) Davis. Growing up she spent much of her youth on Starvation Hill in Wilmington.
Alice Fay was a graduate of Wilmington High School and earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Illinois State University. She taught elementary school primarily in Harvey, IL for nearly 35 years until her retirement. In March of 1974 Alice Fay married Harry Kukla at the First Presbyterian Church of Wilmington.
Survivors include her sister, Bonnie Southall; stepdaughters: Kathy Dunn and Tammy (Rob) Houlf; grandchildren: Ricky Dunn, Tommy Dunn, Jeremy Lundberg, Robbie and Heather; her nephews, Brent (Jeanne) Southall, Brad (Stephanie) Southall and Barry (Joyce) Southall, and her great-nieces and nephews: Lexi, Kiley and John, Sarah and Haley, and Mason, Miranda and Molly.
Alice Fay was preceded in death by her parents, E.J. and Alice Davis; her brother-in-law, Burnell Southall and her beloved husband, Harry Kukla.
The family will host a visitation on Friday, Dec. 22, 2017 from 11 a.m. until time of funeral service at 12 noon at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 E. Kahler Rd. in Wilmington. Pastor Winn Alley from the First Presbyterian Church in Wilmington will officiate, and burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Wilmington.
