Anna Mae Butcher Soave

WILMINGTON—Anna Mae Butcher Soave, 89, late of Wilmington, passed away Sunday, Jan. 6, 2019 at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee.
Born March 2, 1929 in Ritchie, IL, Anna Mae was a daughter of Fred Joseph and Alice Bernadette (Wickman) Harding. She was raised in Peotone and attended Peotone High School. Anna Mae married James M. Butcher, and he preceded her in death on May 11, 1978. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Wilmington, and will be remembered for her love of tending to her home, cooking, baking and family. Anna Mae was also a great fan of the Chicago Cubs.
Survivors include her children, Fred (Cathy) Butcher and Richard Butcher, both of Wilmington; Charlyn (Troy) Gowler, of Reddick, Paul (Regina) Butcher of Wilmington and Anna Marie (Jason) Marshall of Rockport, Texas; nine grandchildren: Jonnie Butcher of Wilmington, Paul Gowler of South Wilmington, C. Nelson (Sarah) Gowler of Bourbonnais, Colleen Jandeska of Buckingham, Jeremy Butcher, Jared Butcher and Ashley Butcher, all of Wilmington, and Niccolette Marshall (Fiance’ Colby Stehling) and Airman Steven Marshall, USAF, both of Rockport, Texas; four great grandchildren: Troy Pogliano, Brody and Braden Gowler, Kael Jandeska and Makynzie Stehling, and one sister, Linda (Pat) Lagesse of Aroma Park, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Anna Mae was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James M. Butcher Sr.; son, Charles in infancy; son, James M. Butcher Jr.; grandson, Joseph Butcher and one sister, Margaret (Daniel) Delmagori.
Per Anna Mae’s wishes, services will be private and she will be laid to rest in Oakwood Cemetery, Wilmington with her late husband.
Anna Mae’s grandchildren will act as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Anna Mae’s memory to the First Presbyterian Church of Wilmington, 301 N. Kankakee St., Wilmington, IL 60481.
