Evelyn Ruda

FLORIDA—Evelyn Ruda (nee Woodrich), 94, formerly of Custer Park, Michigan City and Sarasota, passed away on Dec. 3, 2018 at Bay Village, Sarasota.
Born in Chicago, Evelyn met her husband, Bill while working in a torpedo factory during WWII. After moving to Custer Park in 1950 she was active in the Custer Park PTA, serving as president for several years. Later she worked at the Wilmington 1st Savings and Loan as head teller. She finished her work career as executive secretary for Sullair of Michigan City before moving to Sarasota in 1980.  Evelyn loved sports, fishing, travel, painting, pottery and jewelry making.
She is survived by her son, Russell (Sharon), of Springfield; three grandchildren: Kristin Ruda (Rick Juster), of Wilmington; Elizabeth (Daniel) Dierking and Brian (Tina) Ruda, all of Lemont and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William; parents, Walter and Bessie Woodrich and son, Steven.
