Jacquelyn Tennyson

BRAIDWOOD—Jacquelyn B. Tennyson, 74, of Braidwood and formerly of Custer Park, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee.
Born June 2, 1943 in Evergreen Park, IL, Jacquelyn Barbara was a daughter of Jack Raymond and Cecilia Justina (Sula) Otlewis. She was a graduate of Longwood Academy in Chicago and went on to attend Bogan Junior College.
On Thanksgiving Day, November 22, 1962, Jackie married Lawrence Meyr, and together they raised four children, Shari, Larry, Chris and Jack. Lawrence preceded Jackie in death on March 4, 1985. She later went on to marry Everett Ray Tennyson on Valentine’s Day 1990, and he survives.  
Jackie worked as a secretary for the Wilmington schools, first at Stevens Middle School and later Wilmington High School, from where she retired.
Jackie was a member, and attended both St. Rose Catholic Church in Wilmington, and Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Braidwood, where she participated in Adoration. She belonged to the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association; was a former member of South Wilmington Sportsman’s Club, and was active with the American Kennel Club in past years while raising and showing Norwegian Elk Hounds.
In her free time, Jackie took pleasure in gardening and tending to her home and landscaping. She always had a fondness for dogs, and will be most remembered for her love of family.
Survivors include her husband of 28 years, Ray; four children: Shari (Jerry) Sparks of San Juan Capistrano, CA, Larry (Julie) Meyr of Beecher, Chris (John) Nelson of Libertyville, IL and Jack (Jamie) Meyr of Essex; ten grandchildren: Sara Meyr, Mitch Nelson, Linzie Meyr, Cpl. Nicholas Meyr, USM, Jack Nelson, Maggie Meyr, Mazie Meyr, Ben Nelson, Samantha Sparks and Jack Sparks; two great grandchildren: Ava Santana and Jocelyn Meyr; one sister-in-law, Barbara Barbish of McLeansboro, IL and her lifelong friend, Ceil Harris of Jacksonville Beach, FL.
Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, and first husband, Lawrence.
Visitation and video tribute will be held on Monday, April 2, 2018 between the hours of 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 East Kahler Road in Wilmington. Funeral services will follow Tuesday morning, April 3, 2018 at 10 a.m. in St. Rose Catholic Church, 604 South Kankakee Street in Wilmington.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Reverend Sebastian Gargol presiding.
Burial will be in Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Wilmington, where Jackie will be laid to rest with her late husband.
Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be: Jerry Sparks, John Nelson, Mitch Nelson, Jack Nelson, Nicholas Meyr, Ben Nelson, and Jack Sparks.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in Jackie’s memory to American Cancer Society.
