Jaden Christian heading to state

    Jaden Christian will be the lone varsity track member of Reed-Custer’s girls team to represent the program at state this year.
    The Lady Comet freshman wound up having a stellar day at the Sectional, placing first in the triple jump and second in long jump.
    She also made history, setting a new school record in long jump at the Sectional with a jump of 18’ 11”, braking the previous record of 17’ 10”.
    In the triple jump, she wound up winning the event with a distance of 36’ 8”.
    She will head to Eastern Illinois University this weekend to compete at state.
    In Class 2A, Christian enters the state tournament for long jump with the seventh longest jump.
    The top qualifier, Imani Carothers from Chicago (Brooks), earned a distance of 19’ 9” in her Sectional.
    As for triple jump, Christian enters state with the fifth longest jump.
    The top qualifying jump goes to Jayla Campbell from Rich Central, who traveled a distance of 38’ 9.5”.
    The Braidwood community wishes Christian the best of luck as she prepares to represent Reed-Custer at EIU.
