James E. Wallace

WILMINGTON—James E. Wallace, 82, of Wilmington, IL, left this earth suddenly and peacefully on Sunday, March 4, 2018 at his home and walked through the gates of heaven into the arms of Jesus and a grand reunion with his parents, brother, son and grandson.  
He was born Nov. 6, 1935 in Harrisburg, IL, a son of Harry and Ruby (nee Burroughs) Wallace. He married the love of his life, Frances Klein on June 15, 1968 in Peoria, IL. James graduated from Harrisburg, IL High with the class of 1953.  He was employed by Caterpillar, Inc. for 35 years, his last job being tool room superintendent.  
He was a wonderful baritone/bass singer and performed in several Southern Gospel groups and on the radio in Harrisburg.  He also played bass guitar and sang at local churches. James was in a Caterpillar production of My Fair Lady and also in a quartet for the Sound of Music and had great acting ability. He was a member of the Christian Life Assembly of God in Diamond, IL.  He enjoyed raising and racing quarter horses and Thoroughbred horses with a trainer taking them to New York, Chicago, Oklahoma, Michigan and Kansas.  He loved to build furniture and had many projects.   
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, daughter, Cindy Carr; son-in-law, Dan Carr; two grandsons, Kevin (Amanda) Carr and Kyle Carr; three great-grandchildren: Jocelyn, Kody and Alayna Carr; two sisters, Delores Hatcher and Judy Chandler, both of Florida; niece, Kim (Paul) Signorelli, of Colorado Springs, CO; nephew, Michael (Mary Beth) Wallace, of Long Branch, TX and numerous nieces and nephews.  
Preceding him in death were his parents, Harry and Ruby Wallace; brother, Jack Wallace; son, Scott Wallace and grandson, Korey Carr.  
Cremation rites have been accorded.  A celebration of his life will be held at Christian Life Assembly of God, 2960 E. Division, Diamond, IL 60416, on Friday, March 9, 2018 with visitation from 4-6 p.m. and services beginning at 6 p.m.  
In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name may be directed to the Christian Life Assembly of God.
