John Jackson

BRAIDWOOD—John Jackson, 85, of Braidwood passed away at his home on Dec. 23, 2017 surrounded by his loving family from the complications of Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) that he has battled for 9 years.
John was born on Sept. 27, 1932 in Big Flat, Arkansas.  He spent most of his life in the Wilmington area where he met his beautiful wife Winnie Jean.  He worked many years at the Joliet Army Ammunition plant in Elwood before beginning his construction career with many local companies.
John was a longtime member of the Braidwood Masonic Lodge #704 since 1970 where he held Master (1978 & 1990), Junior Warden (2004-2005 & 2009-2010), senior Warden (2010-2012). He was also affiliated with the Wilmington Masonic Lodge #208 since 2004. He loved to spend time with family and visit their property in southern MO.
Surviving are his devoted loving wife of 63 years, Winnie (Billingsley) of Braidwood; loving daughter and son-in-law: Tonya and Chris Cavanaugh of Braidwood; his grandsons: who were his light, pride, and joy, Ryan and Bret Cavanaugh, Braidwood; two sisters: Linda Faye Williams of Pineville, MO and Mary Alice Robbins of Anderson, MO; one brother: Floyd Jackson of Arizona; brother-in-law: Dale (Theresa) Billingsley of Essex; sister-in-law: Rosa Lee Tenn, Braidwood, and sister-in-law: Deanna (Don) Ivy of Goreville,  IL; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents: Oscar and Rosie Jackson, two sisters: Idell Cravens, Seligman MO and Ruby Palmer, Toledo IL; and 5 brothers: Toby Jackson Rogers AR, Merl Jackson (Letters) Springdale AR, Glenn Jackson AZ, Preston Jackson Seligman MO, and Paul Jackson Big Flatt AR.  
Visitation will be at the R.W. Patterson Funeral Home & Crematory, Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2017 from 4 p.m.-8 p.m. with masonic services at 7 p.m.  
Funeral service will be Wednesday, Dec. 27 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Greg Linkous officiating.  
Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Wilmington.  The pallbearers will be Sherman Palmer Jr., Matt Esparza, Steven Esparza, Ryan Cavanaugh, John Watson, Michael Dale Billingsley, Bret Cavanaugh as Jr pallbearer.  
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the family wishes.
