LaVerne Tamayo-Sandstrom

COAL CITY—LaVerne Tamayo-Sandstrom, (nee Weder), 81, of Coal City, passed away Saturday, July 14, 2018 at Heritage Health in Dwight, IL.  
Born April 11, 1937 in Washington, DC, she was the daughter of LaVerne and Maxine (nee Carlise) Weder. She was a member of the Main Street Baptist Church in Braidwood. LaVerne was known to be very generous and always put others before her. She enjoyed bingo, crosswords, collecting dolls, church, yardwork, angels and her favorite color was blue.  
Surviving are four sons: Doug Sandstrom, of Shorewood, IL; Mark (Geri) Sandstrom, of Braidwood; Kevin Sandstrom, of Chicago, IL and Anthony Tamayo; one daughter, Debbie Sandstrom, of Dwight; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one sister, Alva (Emmitt) Nelson, of Indiana; one brother, Russ (Judy) Wallace, of Asotin, WA and nieces and nephews.  
Preceding her in death were her parrents, one daughter, Carla Marie and two brothers, Jim Proctor and William Weder.              Cremation rites have been accorded.  Memorial visitation will be at the R.W. Patterson Funeral Home & Crematory, Thursday, July 19, from 4-6 p.m. with memorial visitation at 6 p.m. Inurnment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in her name may be directed to Main St. Baptist Church.
