Mary Jo Nugent

WILMINGTON—Mary Jo Nugent, 55, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully, Monday, Sept. 4, 2017 at her home.
Born Nov. 9, 1961 in Logansport, IN, Mary Josephine was a daughter of DeDe (Lang) Tanguy and Victor Tanguy. She was raised and educated in Logansport, and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree from Indiana State University. On Sept. 13, 1986, Mary Jo married Ray Nugent. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Wilton Center.
Mary Jo’s career was in law enforcement, and she retired as a sergeant from Oak Brook Police Department in 2014, following 27 years of dedicated service.
She had a love of horses, and always enjoyed being with friends. Mary Jo will be remembered for her kind heart, warm smile and zest for life.  
Survivors include her husband, Ray; mother, DeDe Tanguy, of Logansport; siblings: Gretchen (Keith) Morgan, of Greenwood, IN; Lindy (Walt) Deeter, of Walton, IN; Polly (Brad) Shilling, of Frankfort, IN; Duke Tanguy, of Plymouth, IN and Kate (Jim) Herr, of Arcadia, IN; her uncle, Robert F. “Bud” (Inez) Lang, of Poway, CA; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Rose (Joe) May, of Oak Lawn; Bob Nugent, of Bridgeview; Bill Nugent, of Wisconsin; Dorothy (Keith) Jones, of St. Charles; Pat (Rich) Whitaker, of Batavia; Tom Nugent, of Mundelein; Marilyn (Ed) Fey, of Orland Park and Louise Nugent, of Chicago Ridge and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as countless friends.
Mary Jo was preceded in death by her father, Vincent Tanguy.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
The family will receive friends for a memorial visitation and celebration of Mary Jo’s life on Monday, Sept. 11, 2017 between the hours of 3 and 8 p.m. at Baskerville Funeral Home, 700 E. Kahler Rd. in Wilmington.
Funeral services will be held in Mary Jo’s hometown of Logansport, IN at a later date.
