Patricia Appleton

COAL CITY—Patricia Lee Appleton (nee Powell), 76, of Coal City, passed away, peacefully at her home, Thursday, Sept. 6, 2018 from years of battling Hodgkin's Lymphoma.  
Born Oct. 25, 1941 in Joliet, to the late Thomas and Twila (nee Potter) Powell-Perona.  Patricia graduated from Coal City High School, class of 1959 and Marycrest Business College, with completion of the Greg Secretarial Course.
She formerly worked at Twila's Flavor Queen and also enjoyed working alongside her late husband, Norm, farming and being the care takers at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Braidwood.  
Patricia enjoyed flowers, and especially enjoyed spending time with her grand-daughters, gardening and playing games.    She always had great words of wisdom to share with her family.  
Surviving are two sons, Keith (Dorlene) Appleton, of Braidwood and Kevin (Tanya) Appleton, of Coal City; two granddaughters, Julie and Natalie Appleton and best friend, Barbara Viano.  
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, Norman Appleton (2011), who she married April 2, 1960 in Coal City and an infant brother.  
Funeral services were held at the R.W. Patterson Funeral Home & Crematory, Braidwood, Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2018.
Interment followed at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her name may be directed to the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery or the Volunteer Grundy County Hospice.
