Richard F. Brockman

WILMINGTON—Richard F. Brockman, 72, of Wilmington, IL, formerly of Custer Park, IL, passed away Monday, Jan. 8, 2018 at the University of Chicago Medical Center in Chicago, IL.  
Born Oct. 9, 1945 in Joliet, IL, he was the son of Howard and Patricia (nee McCrory) Brockman. He married Barbara Shenk on April 18, 1970 in Wilmington.  Richard was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Wilmington. He was employed by the Department of Natural Resources and enjoyed camping, going to high school basketball games, spending time with his grandchildren as well as with family and friends. He was also a former board member of the Braidwood Recreation Club.      Richard is survived by his wife, Barbara Brockman, of Wilmington; son, Brent (Julie) Brockman and daughter, Tammi Brockman, of Wilmington; grandchildren, Jaxsen and Brayden Brockman, of Wilmington; sister, Pam (Randy) Smith, of Joliet, IL; brothers, Rodney (Dale Ann) Brockman, of Elwood, IL and Stevan Brockman, of Shorewood, IL; sister in laws, Carol Shenk, of Peotone, IL and Nancy Shenk, of Wilmington as well as numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.  
He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Patricia Brockman; mother and father-in-law, Clarence and Regina Shenk; sister-in-law, Debbie Brockman; brothers-in-law, Randy Shenk and Roger Shenk and niece, April Ann Brockman.  
Visitation is at the R.W. Patterson Funeral Home & Crematory, 401 E. Main St., Braidwood, Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018 from 4-8 pm. Funeral service is Friday, Jan. 12 at 11 am. with Pastor Jan Chandler officiating.  Interment with military honors will follow in Abraham Lincoln Nation Cemetery in Elwood, IL.  
Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Childrens Hospital.
