Robert Kilpatrick

NORFORK, AK—Robert James Kilpatrick, 83, of Norfork passed away Monday, Dec. 3, 2018. He was born November 14, 1935, in Braidwood, as the only child of James and Pauline (Dickson) Kilpatrick.
Robert was a graduate of Reed Custer High School, class of 1953. He married Yvonne Scaman on Jan. 19, 1957. Together they made their home in Braidwood and then in Morris.
Robert retired from Caterpillar in 1991 after 35 years of service. He was a master in many fields but he was especially talented with his wood working. He could create anything. Robert built and remodeled many homes, built furniture, decorations and refinished antiques. He was a true craftsman at building rock walls similar to the countryside in Scotland.
Robert and Yvonne moved to Norfork, at Lake Norfork in 1991 where they built their last home together. Robert was a member of Local 851 International Association of Machinist and Aerospace Workers of Joliet. He was active as an Elder at his family church, First United Presbyterian in Braidwood and also at First Presbyterian Church of Mountain Home, AK.
Robert was a longtime member of the Moose Lodge in Morris as well as Mountain Home. He was a volunteer fire fighter for the Braidwood Volunteer Fire Department in the 1950’s and Commissioner for the Rodney-Jordan Volunteer Fire Department for 11 years in Jordan, AK. Robert was also a member of the Local 851 Machinist Workers ,in Joliet.
Robert is survived by his three children, Mike (Susan Henson), of Venus, TX, Matt       (JoAnn Hylka), of Westmont, and Mari and Fred Ruegsegger, of Norfork, AK; eight grandchildren: Leslie (Jerry Hernandez), of Venus, TX; Paula and Jenny Kilpatrick, of Westmont, Sarah, Alex, Ian, Andrew and Elliott Ruegsegger, of Norfork, AK; three great grandchildren: Ryean (Jose) Rincon, Stephanie and Jerry, Jr.; three great-great grandchildren, TerriAnna and Jayden Hernandez and Zariah Rincon all of Venus, TX.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents and his mother and father-in-law, Mike and Sophie Bertino.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the First Presbyterian Church at 1106 Spring Street, Mtn. Home on Friday, Dec. 7, 2018 at 11 a.m. with a luncheon to follow.
