Robert Porter

ELWOOD—Robert Porter, 90, of Elwood, passed away peacefully Saturday, Dec. 15, 2018 at his residence, with family at his side.
Born March 25, 1928 in Oakwood, IL, Bobby Dean was a son of Cecil and Tony (Stump) Porter. He was raised and educated in Jamesburg and went on to be a Navy Veteran who served proudly on the USS Southerland. Bob was a village employee for many years in Elwood. He always had a smile on his face and a story to tell.
Survivors include his children: Michael (Rita) Porter, of Gilbert, AZ and Colleen Porter and Kevin Porter, both of Elwood; three grandchildren: Bryan (Dana) Porter, of Wichita, KS; Breanne (Dave) Wells, of Danville, IL and Brooke Elizabeth Porter (special friend, Daron Phillips), of Clarksville, TN; several great-grandchildren, one sister, Joan West, of Danville and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, several brothers and sisters, his loving wife Evelyn on Dec. 15, 2005 and his devoted dog, Mr. Harley.
Per Bob’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.
Inurnment with full military honors provided by the United States Navy, will be in Danville National Cemetery in Danville, IL on Friday, June 28, 2019 at 11 a.m.
Preferred memorials in lieu of flowers may be made as gifts in Bob’s memory to Joliet Area Community Hospice, 250 Water Stone Circle, Joliet, IL 60431 or to a charity of the donor’s choosing.
