Several area fire departments were called to assist with the initial call including units from Wilmington, Braidwood, Gardner, Channahon, Elwood, Morris and Seneca. Manpower and equipment from Dwight and Troy were standing by at the Coal City fire station.
Doerfler reports damaged is estimated at $160,000 with most of that being in contents.
The village of Diamond was notified of the fire and was reportedly in contact with a structural engineer to determine if the building remained structurally sound.
