Wanita Romero

DWIGHT—Wanita M. Romero, 91, of Dwight, formerly of Goose Lake, passed away Friday, Jan. 12, 2018 at Gilman Healthcare Center in Gilman, IL.
Wanita Mae Moline was born to Edith Moline and Wilfred Moline on July 12, 1926 in Bloomington, IL. Her father was a fireman in Bloomington and gave his life fighting a fire when Wanita was only two years old. From that time on she was raised by her mother, and Wanita spent her youth in the Bloomington and El Paso area.
When she was 19 years old living in Bloomington, Wanita met Robert Romero who was traveling as a representative for the company he worked for. They married two weeks after meeting and remained married for the next 72 years. Wanita and her husband raised their children, Roberta, Rebecca, Richard and Ronald in Chicago and Goose Lake.
She had many talents and interests which included writing, poetry, painting, sewing and singing. Wanita was a crossword wizard, and loved to garden and travel. She had a great influence on all of those she leaves behind, and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her children: Rick Romero, Becky Montero and Ron Romero; 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Wanita was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert, who passed away Nov. 16, 2017 and her daughter, Roberta on Oct.28, 2016.
Per Wanita’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.
Visitation and video tribute will be Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018 from 12 p.m. until the time of memorial service at 2 p.m. at Reeves Funeral Home, 408 E. Washington St., one block east of IL Route 47 in Morris.
