William Watling

CHICAGO—William Aaron Watling, 66, of Chicago passed away July 28, 2018 in Chicago.
Born Aug. 13, 1951 in Joliet, he was the son of Wilfred H. and Ann Watling. He attended Central School, Wilmington Middle School and Wilmington High School and graduated from Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, IL. William served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He was also a published poet and writer and an avid storyteller.
He is survived  by his wife, Mai Thi and will be lovingly remembered by her family in Chicago and Vietnam; sisters, Patricia Bosi and Sharon (Robert) Frank, of Wilmington; step-mother, Darlene (Kenneth) Fritsch, of North Fort Myers, FL; nieces, Lynn (Steven) Nohos, of St. John, IN and Janet (Michael) Skocy, of Elwood; nephews, Brian Matlock, of Wilmington and Aaron Matlock, of Washington State as well as several great-nieces and nephews and other loving relatives and dear friends.    
He was preceded in death by his father, Wilfred H. (1982) and Mother, Ann (1954).
Visitation will be held Sunday, Aug. 5, 2018 from 2-7 p.m. at Cooney Funeral Home, 3918 W. Irving Park Rd., Chicago. Funeral services will be held Monday, Aug. 6, 2018, 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Final cremation rites will be accorded at the Montrose Cemetery and Crematory immediately following chapel services.
Floral arrangements will be accepted or contributions to the charity of the donor’s choice.
