Dozens of blue pinwheels were spinning in a gentle breeze in Coal City’s Campbell Memorial Park last week as a symbol that all children deserve a life free of abuse.
Planting pinwheels in the park is the GFWC-IL Coal City Junior Woman’s Club’s way of observing Child Abuse Prevention Month. This is the eighth year the community service organization has taken part in the nationwide initiative to bring awareness to and prevent the abuse and neglect of children.
