JOLIET – Area job seekers are invited to attend a weekly job fair hosted by the Workforce Services Division of Will County and the Illinois Department of Employment Security from 9 to 11 a.m., Thursday, May 18, at the Workforce Center of Will County.

Mayor Strong returns to city hall, lists priorities

Friends and supporters welcomed Roy Strong back to city hall last week, when Will County Circuit Court Associate Judge Ray Nash swore the new mayor into office for a second term.
Strong served Wilmington as mayor from 2005 to 2009, when Marty Orr won the seat. Orr served for eight years, then was bested at the polls by Strong last month. As he resumed the role of mayor, Strong outlined his priorities for the next four years.

Three arrested with more than $1 million in cocaine

On Monday, May 8, at 8:20 p.m., the Will County Sheriff's Gang Suppression Unit arrested three subjects after pulling over a vehicle that they saw cross over the center line on three occasions. Deputies made the stop in the area of Monee-Manhattan Road near the intersection of Harlem Avenue, in Green Garden Township just north of Peotone.

Woman arrested for filling fraudulent prescription

Doc’s Drugs of Wilmington contacted the police early Monday afternoon, May 1, to report that someone was trying to pick up a fraudulent prescription.
While en route, the officers were advised that the offender had left the store in a blue Nissan. They spotted a vehicle in a parking lot on Water Street that matched the vehicle’s description and stopped to investigate.
