Coalers advance to regional semifinal vs. ‘Cats

Can the Coalers beat the Wildcats for the second time this season?
Coaler fans will find out tonight (Wednesday) at 7:30 p.m. in Manteno during the semifinal round of the regional.
The Coalers (#8 seed) are coming off a 62-53 win over Southland College Prep on Monday as they improve to 13-17 overall.
The first two times these ICE rivals played, Wilmington (#4) won 45-24 and 47-32. Most recently Coal City defeated Wilmington at home 47-40.
Whichever team wins will advance to Friday’s regional championship in Manteno (#2) at 7 p.m. They will face either Reed-Custer (#10) or Manteno.
The Comets (10-20 overall) won Monday’s first round contest over Peotone 55-43. The two teams had split wins earlier in the season but this time Reed-Custer kept up the pressure to win. They will have a tough go against the hosting Panthers as they lost to them twice on previous occassions, 71-29, 61-41.
The Manteno regional champion will advance to the Clifton Sectional on Tuesday at 7 p.m. against the winner of the Bishop McNamara Regional.
