Six of 19 area wrestlers win their prelim

Six Coal City wrestlers made it through the first round of the IHSA state finals with a victory on Thursday. Advancing with wins were Cooper Morris (126), Brody Widlowski (138), Aidan Kenney (144), Brock Finch (165), Landin Benson (175) and John Weigher (215).

Coalers entering the wrestleback side of the bracket include Jason Piatak (105), Owen Petersen (113), Culan Lindemuth (120), Luke Munsterman (132), Noah Houston (150), Mason Garner (157) and Cade Poyner (190).

Also battling back in round two will be Reed-Custer’s Colto Drinkwine (106), Cole Harris (113), Kaaden Wood (120), Jeremy Eggleston (138) and Dominic Alaimo.

From Wilmington, Logan Van Duyne (190) suffered a first round loss but is looking to regroup with a win in round 2.
