Jennifer Tannhauser, aka Jennifer Murphy, 41, of Wilmington, disappeared 14 days ago without a trace. She left her dog, cell phone and medication behind.
“On July 10 at approximately 4:45 p.m., our agency received a report of a missing female from Fulton Street in Wilmington, who was reportedly experiencing a mental health crisis, causing concern for her safety,” Wilmington police said.
Wilmington police, family, friends and volunteers searched the city of Wilmington and surrounding areas with no luck.
On July 11, Tannhauser's vehicle was located in the fishermen's parking lot at the Kankakee River State Park on Warner Bridge Road. Her wallet and keys were still in the car, according to a relative.
Police searched the area where her vehicle was found with K-9 officers and drones. The Dept. of Natural Resources also searched the Kankakee River with no success.
“We are aware of flyers that have been circulated inviting people to assist in searching the abandoned women's prison of IL-102,” Wilmington police said. “We advise that no one enter this area without the escort of law enforcement due to extensive safety issues with the remaining structures and general landscape of the area.”
Tannhauser has brown hair and hazel eyes. She is 5'4” and weighs approximately 250 pounds. She has a large tattoo running vertically down her back.
According to Wilmington Chief of Police, Adam Zink, as of Monday, there have been no updates in the case.
“We are still working closely with the conservation police to follow up with all leads,” Zink said. “And we will continue searching.”
