As postseason play begins across Illinois, local Class 2A volleyball teams have learned their paths to the Peotone Sectional.
Wilmington and Reed-Custer will compete in the Herscher Regional, while Coal City will battle in the Seneca Regional, both beginning the week of Oct. 27.
The Herscher Regional will open Oct. 27, when (8) Herscher faces (9) Reed-Custer at 6 p.m. The winner of that match will move on to play top-seeded Wilmington on Tuesday, Oct. 28, at 6 p.m.
Following that,  (4) Pontiac takes on (5) Peotone at 7 p.m.
The regional championship is set for Thursday, Oct. 30, at 6 p.m., featuring the winners of Tuesday’s semifinal matchups.
The regional champion will advance to the Peotone Sectional, where they’ll meet the winner of the Chicago (Catalyst/Maria) Regional in the sectional semifinals on Tuesday, Nov. 4, at 7 p.m.
In the Seneca Regional, (2) Manteno will meet (7) Bishop McNamara at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 28, followed by (3) Seneca taking on (6) Coal City at 7 p.m.

The Seneca Regional champion will advance to the Peotone Sectional, facing the winner of the Palos Heights (Chicago Christian) Regional in the first semifinal on Tuesday, November 4, at 6 p.m.
Wilmington enters the postseason as the No. 1 seed in its bracket and will look to continue its strong season with a deep playoff push. Reed-Custer will have to get through host Herscher in the opening round for a chance to challenge the Wildcats.
In Seneca, Coal City faces a tough test right away against the host school, while Manteno sits on the opposite side of the bracket as the No. 2 seed. A potential Seneca–Manteno final could be on deck, but Coal City aims to play spoiler and advance.
