Blue Devils too hot for the Comets

The Reed-Custer varsity boys soccer team traveled to Peotone on Thursday where they faced the red-hot Blue Devils
The Comets (0-7 overall, 0-3 conference) spent most of their time playing defense as the Blue Devils won it 8-0.
Peotone peppered goalkeeper Nathan Minuth all game, putting 20 shots on goal, with Minuth earning 12 saves through the two halves.
Reed-Custer managed just three shots on goal, as they were shutout in the conference game.
“As a group, we continue to struggle with the quick teams,” said Reed-Custer coach Andy Gleixner. “There is no doubt our schedule does not help these first few weeks, but the boys’ attitudes continue to impress.”
Manteno 8,
Reed-Custer 1

The Comets couldn’t keep up with Manteno’s offense last Tuesday night, as they suffered their second conference loss of the season.
Reed-Custer managed one goal in the first half thanks to Hunter O’Connor recording an unassisted goal.
“We will continue to work to get better,” said Gleixner. “Manteno played well. I’m proud of the way our guys keep playing.”
Unfortunately, the Panthers amassed eight goals in the first half to walk away with the seven-goal win through the second half.
Minuth finished with eight saves in the goal.
