Holman honored for 20 years of serving the WBSA

There are dozens of volunteers who contribute to the success of the Wilmington Baseball Softball Association, but on Saturday the organization singled out one of their own, Van Holman, the outgoing president.
New president Tony Vercelli introduced Holman during an opening day ceremony that included throwing the first pitch.

For 32 years Wilmington police Sgt. Dan Brimer has kept a watchful eye on the community.

Brimer, who is about to retire, said he likes what he has seen over the years. Especially when it comes to sports at the youth and high school levels.

It takes a community to play ball

    Before the first pitch could be thrown, it took months of preparation by 14 board members and dozens of coaches in the Wilmington Baseball Softball Association.
    It’s an effort that’s turned an annual rite of spring into a community tradition whereby parents and volunteers unite so kids can play ball.
    Look at the parents coaching today and you’ll see that most were at one time players in the WBSA. They are volunteering just like their parents did when they were young.

Lombardi Chevy-Buick helps to equip the WBSA

    Lombardi Chevrolet-Buick is partnering with the Wilmington Baseball Softball Association in Wilmington.  
    Lombardi Chevrolet-Buick has joined forces with the national Chevrolet Youth Baseball program to provide new equipment, invitations to free instructional clinics, and an opportunity for community members to earn donations for their league via a Test Drive fundraiser.
